Programs to help a Mac run faster

I have a Mac that's just over 2 years old, It's started to slow down a bit now with all the s**t everywhere etc.

Are there any programs that'll clean the Mac up a little bit? Delete old / unwanted files and the like.

Stick the files you want on a HD and do a fresh install?

I could do - everything is backed up with Time Machine ... ?

But I guess if I did restore the back up from Time Machine then it'll be the same as before?

I just don't want to lose all of the programs that are installed, as I don't have discs for some of them now!

This TBH, do this to all my computers at least once a year

If you have less than 10% of drive space left your machine will get noticeably slower, you could run activity monitor try and stress the machine a bit and see if you are runnign out of ram.

Snow leopard will speed up your machine if its intel (which im assuming it is)
