Id love to see the difference on the road between this and my nearly standard 172.

When me and stoddie had a race he was only JUST quicker to 100! Then above that i thought i was catchin tbh!

It was new then...I think it's quicker still now!

I'm not anti-GDI at all, I'd happily take my car there and know it would bein good hands. It's obvious that the graph is elaborated at 6k though, especially as it's in Excel......

wasnt meaning to be rude with the comment guys and i appreciate the inputs, what i ment to say was that the figures arent much of an important feature to me its the way the car drives, sounds and value for money, the conversion met all of what i expected so im a happy bunny and recommend it highly!

i love the inlet! is it powdercoated or painted?

As for the cost? Well id have saved up for a turbo conversion, 3.5k for about 40bhp doesnt seem good value to me. a 300bhp wooshing turbo conversion sounds better for 6k.

looks a nice job tho.

Your turbo induced torque would melt the paper gearbox and you'd be going nowhere.
At least this setup would be reliable/useable in the wet.

300bhp + FWD = Crappy drive.

I'd say it wasnt a bad increase really for a n/a. And as tom says it'll be usable power.

i know its too much power for a front wheel drive 300hp, but you can have a map setup to deliver the power smoothly, or dont even run 300hp, 260 or so would still be amazing.

Gearbox would suffer maybe as you said Tom.

But still £ for bhp its still expensive to me, not when you could have an extra 100hp for another 2k or so if you wanted?

Im not knocking it tho, will be amazing to drive no doubt but IMO id have a turbo. Thats me tho, lol.

and for under £6k a TT 225bhp lump with remap and basic mods running a more reliable 300+bhp with a gearbox that wont melt makes double the sense... it's not all about that though, NA power is better as the power spread makes it more drivable and less on/off. then their's the noise

I like the sound of that Jesus!! Couple of clios ive seen running that VAG lump.
However its a lot of work and will no doubt have some pit falls along the way but definately an option for those in search of big power.

I understand that conversions like yours and this lads are nice useable power and i am in no way knocking your efforts
, id love a go in yours.!

But for me and my money it seems not a lot of gain per £.

Dont think im knocking any thing here, im not but its hard to type what i mean.. :approve:

and the noise from either your car or a turbo would be amazing. I think TB's would sound more purposeful, however you cant beat a dump valve...

Agreed Tom..

Well the VAG lump is reliable and already turbo'd with strong as hell internals, that and it mounts facing the same direction and is roughly the same size and weight makes it a miles better choice... only thing imo is the engines are pretty boring in sound and power delivery imo.

ITB's are not a lot of 'peak' gain per £, but I get a nice healthy 140lbs/ft @ the wheels at 2500rpm according to my RR from Ric Wood so the power band is pretty big. Big enough to edge away from E46 M3's and paste my mates old RX7 import(280bhp) even giving him a head start lol

VAG lump and gearbox can be had for under a grand if you know where to look..

Ask Mike@Rentech ;)
