Project: Petty shed

  Fiesta ST200
So I bought my new car yesterday.

It is a Full fat 182 in petrol blue.

The car has done 64,000 miles and the only modification is a scorpion cat back.

The car needs a lot of TLC. It's scattered with tar, green in the shuts, the paintwork is dull and swirly. It has also had the front bumper painted and the colour match isn't great. I will get it done again later this year.

For the minute I'm concentrating on getting it mechanically up to standard.

It currently needs:

Suspected new dephaser pulley. (Cam belt and aux belt also getting changed)

4 new tyres. It is currently wearing "ditch finder pros" (4 Michelin pilot sport 3's on their way)

New sump seal (slight leak)

New clutch (slipping very occasionally and not very badly)

Front wheel bearing

4 wheel alignment (steering wheel isn't straight and the front tyre is suffering some wear on the inside edge). The wheels also need re balancing once the new tyres are on.

I also have a few parts ready to go on the car such as:

SPAX RSX full coil over kit with adjustable damping

Ktec braided brake lines

Scorpion de cat pipe

Ktec induction kit

4 Michelin pilot sport 3 tyres

Omp rear upper strut brace

White side lights/interior lights

Skoda splitter

I'm sure I've missed off some stuff but I will update this regularly with progress and pictures.

This is mainly a restoration to get the car back to where it should be. I guess saving for a holiday will have to wait!

Here's some rubbishy pics from my drive:

Sorry that they are terrible! I'll get a few more when I'm at work tomorrow :)

The car just needs loving and it should be back to former glory!

You'd prob be better pulling the engine out and doing the sump, clutch and cambelt all in one go, got potential though :) and petrol blue to die for :D

Yeah I might well do that mate. Then do the suspension, wheel bearing and tyres while the engine is out too :)

Bought it for the potential. It'll be a good little project!

Really not a fan of petrol blue, sorry.

There's a reason it didn't sell in big numbers ;)
Price was probably one major factor and doesn't have the wow factor in the majority of the UK's weather. When the sun's shining mine looks awesome. I love it.

Lovely colour, absolutely lovely.

Always figured petrol blue would be hard to match but surely not that hard!!

Tbf John, it looks like whoever painted it used a Dulux colour chart, not a paint code book!

Lots of goodies waiting to go on.

Cambelt, aux belt and dephaser pulley are all being changed later.

The progress has started, car is on the ramps over night. 3 corners now have the coilovers done. Just have to press the wheel bearing out and get the new one in and all 4 corners will be done.

The cam belt and dephaser pulley are being done tomorrow, along with 4 pilot sport 3 tyres. I will probably also fit the splitter, rear strut brace and possibly induction.

Then Monday it's off to have its 4 wheel alignment done! Here's some pics from this evening:

Coilovers and tyres on. Cambelt in progress.

I don't really want to go much lower although it could go about 20mm lower each end. It sits nicely as it is.

Also going Lower on the front may introduce some rubbing issue with the inner edge of the tyre rubbing on the height adjuster. This wouldn't be a problem if I run 195 tyres or some spacers. The latter is quite tempting.

More tomorrow...

Peace.

Cheers guys :)

Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel already. Should be great when it's up together!

That's the best colour wish they did more of them I want one :)

I'll be watching this thread to see what you are going to be doing.

We've decided to replace the cam seals as well as the engine mounts. I will be on the phone to ktec tomorrow to order a complete set of up rated ones. As well as exhaust mounts.

Then over to cam racing for some wheel spacers. We had some issues with the 205 width tyres and rubbing on the damper adjuster. We got it sorted by raising the ride height slightly.

I'm thinking of going 15mm on the front and 16mm on the rear. I know the difference is minimal but it will just increase the rear track ever so slightly more than the front.

Also think I'm going to make a cut out in the lower front grill for a cold air duct to sit in. The duct will be black so it's fairly discreet.

More soon guys!

Brilliant colour, mainly for track use this one or your daily as well?

My daily for use on a B road/motorway. It will get used on the track too though. The first outing is castle Combe on the 20th!

So that's the target date to have it all running and set up properly... And detailed. Haha!
