Proper Gutted - Hit and Run

Woke up last saturday morning to find my car like this

Just can't believe people have the nerve / lack of respect to cause that kind of damage

and just drive off. Its not even as if they may have not noticed because it would have

caused quite some resistance.

Have had a few quotes around £300 + the light so not worth losing my 4 years no claims

for.

Expect i'll probably just leave it for now as I have now given up trying to keep it nice just

for others to trash it.

Question is what should i use to temporarily protect the exposed metal on the QP? Or do

I just leave it and let the bodyshop worry about it when i get round to getting it fixed?

I would do something to cover the exposed metal, maybe some touch up paint or similar.

Proper harsh doing that, most people don't respect other peoples things

May be a good idea to use touch up paint as stated, to prevent rust etc.

Keep an eye out for a car with similar damage, i heard about a guy that got his car damaged and it turned out the culprit lived on the same road!

probably is someone who lives on the road, there is very little reason to use my road unless you live on it.

the heights of the scrape match perfectly with a long wheelbase mercedes sprinter or transit arch. Mysteriously the mercedes sprinter that is always parked on my road in the evenings disappeared for a week from the night the damage happened and came back nice and shiny. had a good look over it and there no obvious signs of it having paint but i'm no expert.

I spoke to a few neighbours, none of them had seen anything but 2 of them suggested without any prompting that i look at the sprinter when it comes back as they have both seen him hit cars and drive off. One neighbour even said she had seen him pushing someones car along the road with the van to open up a space big enough for him!

Trouble is i'm not one to go around making accusations without having some decent proof. It has made me notice how many white van have huge dents and scratches down the side.

The spray hammerite i have left over from restoring my motorbike will be coming out on the weekend to cover up the exposed metal!

I'm quite tempted to put a note in the window asking if anyone saw anything.

Does sound like the driver of the sprinter is the bellend whos causing all the damage. Payback time on them could be in order? Just play the game like they will and do it with no witnesses around.

Yeah the bodyshop i'm going to use have said they will pop it out and fill it. Expect it would be new quarter panel if it was going through insurance.

RAAAHHHHHH I'm so F**king angry, its not as bad as yours but someone must have hit mine at work last night. Someone has hit the front bumper strip on mine, fubared the plastic. Was just about to respray them too, looks like im going to have to sand it all back down flat now or buy a new one

Someone drove into my car a few days ago. Saw a shogun in my street today with a scrape on the front bumper at the same height as my damage with some mondial-esque blue paint on it. No idea who's it is though. f*****s.

Tit for tat can escalate into some very nasty situations, especially when your proof is not conclusive.... Ask them directly, possibly including a 'you were seen by undisclosed neighbours' style comment, check out their response before considering any ill advised retribution from the retards on here
