Protection

I know this isnt car detailing but i wasnt sure where to post...please move if need be.
I have just bought a custom airbrushed helmet and want to add some protection over the lacquer. It is worth waxing it up or just some EGP. Are these ok to use on fresh paint.

i just wak it on and ram it in, no need for waxing up as they come pre lubricated
