PS3 1080p, will it still be good on a lesser HD tv?

Will considering 1080p is the highest resolution HD to date then yes I'm sure there will be a slight difference between it and lower res HD.

It will downscale it to the full functionality of your TV, so it will display it to the best quality that your screen can do.

Obviously comparing a non 1080p to a 1080p screen there will be differences in quality.

Also got to keep in mind not all games support 1080P so a lot will default to 720P.

Dont think it does. Mine is the 32" LE32R73BDX and supports 1080i tho, and for what its worth, the 360 looks the nutts using that mode

I think that's a key point here.

For a noticeable difference to say 360 games running in 720p/1080i you may well need a monster tv to fully appreciate the difference.

I would hazzard a guess that PS3 games (be it running in 720 or 1080p) and 360 games (720p/1080i) will look pretty similar on 20/30" and possibly 40" tv's.

Have just found it on Amazon and it states Component video input (YPbPr) accepting 720P & 1080i input... Is 1080i much different to 1080p? I am getting a 360 for Xmas and can't wait

erm ps3 doesnt have any 1080p content anyway so its all 720p then upscaled

exaclty as mubunny says, just cause it's in 1080 doesn't mean it's 1080 content. the xbox360 i have is running in 1080i and looks identical to 720....thats gears of war too. 1080 will be goodwith appropriate content...

you can use it but you will have to connect it via vga but id imagine the sony wont do 1080p over vga either but could be wrong on that one
