PS3 60GB?

I cant seem to find a reason for discontinuing the console, does anyone have any idea why they've done this? Word between friends is that they are pulling out a better system this year, Im really wanting one atm!

Because hardly anyone needs 60gb of space.

40gb works out a bit cheaper, console was far too pricey for what it is compared to the competition.

most of the reason people are buying the 60gb version is that it is backwards compatible meaning you can play PS1 and PS2 games on it.

Proud owner of a PS3 60Gb as of now...Just paid 462.01 for one
Bit of a bump considering it should have cost 380ish from a shop a month ago!!! But I thought Id get one due to it becoming hard to find sooner or later.

Euro model but warranty still applies.

Glad I got mine when I did, have now got a backwards compatible PS3 complete with 250gb hard drive, don't think I'll be short of space anytime soon!

PS3 60gb doesnt have vibrating controllers?!? ^^ 250gb, as in a hard drive upgrade? Yeh the speculation of a new 360 has been given with an HD/blueray drive and a larger Hard drive and other bits the PS3 has IIRC it was said for Q4 of this year.

No definitive news of the new 360 as yet, still not even confirmed, although the rumoured built-in HD DVD player might not be required as Bluray seems to be winning the war. Although it would be a kick in the teeth for Sony if MS built in a Bluray player! This might not be that likely though as Toshiba make the chipsets on the 360 and support HD DVD, but I guess it that media format dies then they can't complain too much!
