ps3 experts????

  Flame Red Delight
Well basically my ps3 has got the yellow light of "death" so its useless now to me (i have bought myself a new 120gb slimline to replace it). Basically have had a look on ebay and have identified that people buy the ps3's that are on the yellow light (there is a company on there that fixes them for £80, so some1 could get themselves a cheap ps3). I am very cautious though of selling the ps3 to a third party though as when the ps3 gets the yellow light it just cuts off and no longer turns on, thus meaning that all my log in details and internet details are all still saved on the ps3 system itself. So basically this is where i need help, how do i wipe the system so it is safe to sell to a third party? I have not broken the warranty seal either and the ps3 comes with all cables and 2 six axis controllers that work fully.

Thanks in advance

Callum

  a burnt one
There are tutorials on YouTube mate that show you how to fix this, i'd much rather have a go myself (lets face its what the third party will be doing) then if you succeed you will be able to restore to factory settings.

If not you are left with a broken PS3 (which you have anyway) so it's no great loss.

Mine also has this problem but i took out the extended warranty, it was sent for repair but i've been told it's beyond economical repair. Basically meaning they WILL repair it and punt it on as a refurbished model and i'll get punted off with a new crappy version.

take the hard drive out , wont void warranty or wreak seal , providing you have a sata port on your pc pop it in there and format it on your pc

Just attempt it yourself with Youtube, you've got a new one anyway so no real lose imo, can always sell it for more if it's fixed!

fixing it yourself is pointless as it needs reballed, It is fixable at home... but it will work for meybe a few days to a few months tops before its buggered again. You obviously wont have teh resources at home to reflow the mobo.
