PS3 memory problem

Reet just tryed to download the "split/second" demo but no joy as apparently i dont have enough memory. So ive had a look at the System settings and checked out the space on the hard drive...

467MB > 55GB

Hmmm so i deleted a load of music and game saves (dont own them anymore) and im now left with 4568MB > 55GB. Theres nothing else saved on it other than some sub 150MB games (4 to be exact).

Can anybody shed any light?

i supose i could but id rather not if possible, might sound stupid but what would i need to back it up before reformating it if i do?

It will be your game data..its a pain in the arse. I generally keep the save data but delete the game data if there is a game i dont play often.

so its the data you install whwn you first play the game?

Ye, you can delete the game data under the game part of the Xbar IIRC.

ive just tryed that and theres not much difference tbh theres got to be some GB of s**t on it somewhere i dont save much on it other than game data

i have the same problem tbh.

i was surprised i had used so much as i don't have any music/vids on it. only use it to play a few games.

was considering getting a bigger HD tbh. Hopefully RDR will be ok when i get it...

@seb RDR will be around 600MB. @BIFCAIDS as above go through the game data and game save data. Highlight an item and press triangle to access the info, size etc. I had multiple game saves for Fallout rolling at about 9GB each! Try to keep it down to one save per game. For the game data just delete what you don't play much. IIRC GTA4 and GT5P are large. I've also deleted Home and Vidzone as I never use them much, they were around 1GB each.

Game save data is tiny.. barely worth the effort.. game data on the other hand can be GB's
