Reet im thinking about buying a 360 but i want to know some information first.....

How hard are they to set up ie, internet, TV and what have you.

PS3 is very simple didnt have to buy anything to make it work only needed a HDMI cable so i could play it in HD.

Internet was piece of cake a 5 year old could of done it (with some supervision). Have an email, register it choose a name connect to a wireless router and off we pop.

Whats the deal with the 360?

what would i need to be able to do the same as my PS3 and what would it cost?

Thanks

P.S. i only want a 360 for forza and nothing else wouldnt mind having online but im not too keen on having to pay £38 for internet game play when i have it for free on the PS3 (Dont give me the b****cks about its better on 360 i simply play the games Nothing else) Just dont want to pay for it when i get it for free if you get me.

exact same situation for me, got a ps3, its broke like but i want an xbox just for forza.

Xbox is very easy. Only problem Is you need the wireless adaptor as it only has an Ethernet port as standard.

If your not fussed about connecting to net, then all you need is a hdmi cable.

You'll need a play and charge kit, A HDMI cable and an ethernet adapter if you want to go online using wireless. If your getting the network adapter Live is a good option but all the above will stack another £100 or so to the costs making it a fair chunk more expensive than the PS3.

If you just need it for forza single player just buy an arcade and I'll sell you my spare 20gig HD

Hard drive will be the expensive bit. Get cables on ebay for cheap. Don't get a ps3 :rasp:

It's free to download things from the Xbox marketplace etc. It just costs money to play games on Live. So if you have Forza, you can still download all the car packs without spending any money.

^ Speak to Sony Customer Services.

Mine was a over a year out of warranty and they replaced the faulty BluRay drive FOC and kindly loaded the new firmware on, whilst retaining all of my saved games!

:)

Stark contrast to the 3 Xboxes I had in a year suffering from failed DVD drives and RROD - the last one of which Microsoft wouldn't honour! :(

Hence the switch to Sony. :)

The Mrs has given permission for our DVD to be replaced.

I mentioned a blueray player and mumbled about a PS3.

She seemed to think it was ok.

So here they are doing the 250Gb with a premium game and 2 cheap games for £250.

What else do I need? I can justify £250 but not another load of cash on stuff to connect to the net etc etc etc.

What do you lot reckon??

PS3 owners bang on that the graphics but factually that is wrong, the Xenos (i think thats what its called in ther xbox is much more powerful then the ps3. The PS3 may have the ability to produce as good if not better graphics due to their cell technology but it is unlikely that you will ever see a game for it that can use it as developers really struggle with the ps3.
However you get fairly good blu ray player, yes the internet is free but xbox live has pedigree and im happy to pay my £50 a year to have an unbeaten service. If you have a psp however you can transmit tv to it via your ps3 which is cool, it is also alot quieter then the xbox.
If you wanna play games then get an xbox, if you want something with a few gadgets then get the PS3.
Regarding the comment that the ps3 controler is better, i dont agree, i sampled the ps3 before it game out with what was going to be the new controler, looked like a N64 one, i thought it was great as it follows your hands shape like the xbox one.
If you only wanna play one game id get the PS3.

Erm the xbox controller is the size of a table!

I'm guessing that the PS3 isn't so much of a struggle for developers now as most multi platform games look and play equally as good on either system now.

GTFO NOW!!! No talking about graphics its not a discution about "how good one looks over the other" or "what does what better" its about whats involved in the whole running of one and cost as im thinking about buying one you BALL BAG :rasp:

I bought my 360 so that I could play Forza 3 and thankfully my router is in the same room so all I needed was a ethernet cable in order to take the 360 online. If you can do the same then all you really need in addition to the cables supplied with the 360 is a HDMI cable which you probably have at home anyway.

EDIT:

Just read that you are buying the console without cables etc, I'm not sure that's the most cost effective way to do it and you'd be better off buying a new Arcade console or a 60gb Premium.

Or you can use Live by bridging through a pc/laptop to save buying a wireless adaptor and an ehternet cable.

Both are as easy as eachother to run. Also, i know a couple of games developers and they both find the PS3 very hard to develop for, hence the limited number of single format games. Online wise you cannot surf the net like on ps3 but you can now get sky on it.

There are as many format exclusive titles released on the PS3 as the 360 has, I'd not exactly describe it as limited. Most developers prefer multi platform games as that's the best way of making money back in an industry where development costs are increasing all the time.

Uncharted 2 reportedly uses all of the PS3's power, I thought Uncharted 1 was impressive but that only used 30-40% of its capabilities.

And the developer went on record to say that even if they wanted to the 360 would not be capable of running uncharted 2

No theres not, i wish there was and i would buy a PS3 but Microsoft studios started buying up developers to make exclusive games, i have no problem having multiple consoles but currently for me it would be a waste of money.
There isnt a Halo type game (i dont mean the type of game i mean the following, the fan base and the class)

Regarding Uncharted 2, yes it looks fab and i have borrowed my mates ps3 for exclusive games like little big planet killzone etc which are good, Uncharted 2 is the one game that i would consider buying a ps3 for however it is one in a million and i wont be buying one untill the games are as good. But we are getting off topic.

Fanboys GTFO.

I want a PS3 as it plays Bluerays. The games are a bonus. I won't be buying many other than what I can get with it.

Xbox? yeah sound, but it doesnt play bluerays.

Comparision/graphics etc?

Give a sh1t.

The PS3 plays normal DVDs right?

Is it region free?

I have a few US DVDs, will it play em?

Also do I need a special controller to playt blue rays etc or does the game controller do that?
