puzzling noise ?

'04 clio 172 the whining noise started this morning and i cant figure where it is coming from !!!

Mine started doing this a few weeks ago, found the waterpump to be dribbling drips through the weep hole must have washed the bearing out. Replaced it and now it's fixed. It's a serious b*stard of a job though so would advise checking everything else as other things on the aux belt can sound like that, especially alternator.

You can see the water pump weep hole from under the car if you remove the arch liner, if you've got pleanty of coloured anti freeze in it then it should be easy to spot if its been dribbling.

turns out both the alternator and the water pump are shot :/

Ah gutted. The waterpumps not so bad, I replaced mine with a £19 one from eurocarparts.
