Quarter mile/drag strip question...

  Black Clio GT
yeah running a single 50 jet into the tb after the air flow meter will be fine to start off with with but because of the set up on the clios manifold it wont be as good at splitting the nitrous/fuel as evenely to each cylinder, single jets work better with single point manifolds.
the diect port will have to be 25 jet per cylinder minimum which i wouldnt want to go much more with on standard internals tbh...

im sure you will find it fun though :)

PSJ - get that decat on, not only will it help but it'll sound awesome :approve:

mat - Im not planning on sending it into space lol so will keep it at a single jet 50 shot for now :D

trust me after your first couple of rwyb 50shot whont be enough, then its slicks and then you know your addicted ;-)

Mine was making 15.3's all day and Ste's off here was doing 16's (although he had abit of weight in the car lol)

Yeah and then a bit more too

I'd like to know what a difference a certain ammount of weight makes to the quarter mile time of a 182?.........ie Vicky can run a 14.8 in what is basically a 182 and i'm guessing she is quiet small, the best i ran was a 15.9 and i'm huge so could a difference of say 50-60 kilo(75 with the bass box which i should have taken out first really :( ) could this really add a second or more to a quarter mile time?

PS
15.9 was my best, 16.3's were more the average(but my clio is also down on power atm too so i don't know what i would be running if my car was making the average 165-170 bhp that a clio 182 should make as standard.

got back from santa pod last sunday managed to hit 15 dead 3 times crossing the line at 92mph. no big mods just back seats out, exhaust system and ktr panel filter. saw a few 182s running in the 16s....

I have run loads of times at the pod 15.3 @ 93 on 17's just a panel filter otherwise std no weight removed is my quickest VERY addictive thou !! would be up for next RWYB :D most people always do a slower time than they reckon they will and it is suprising how many so called BIG power cars you will beat or wont beat you by as much as you would think !!
Worth it for the reaction of some people when then dont pull 7-8 car lengths on you like they think they will

15.1 isn't bad at all, especially with a passenger...

Santa Pod coming up on 24th of this month which I am looking forward to. I'll be able to answer my own question aswell then...hoping for at least early 14s/ late 13s with my new tricks

The only difference your gonna get from place to place is off the start and maybe in 2nd depending on your start and what power the cars got, somewhere like pod is likely to have more rubber on the start so you should get a bit more grip. Me and a mate used to be very competitive at York Raceway, i was in my old 106 GTI (135bhp) he was in a Civic VTI (160bhp) very similar mods on each car and out of about 40 races altogether he beat me twice, he tried changing tyre pressures and it dident make a difference to his times or the outcome of the race. IMHO if your running a 'normal' car as apposed to a 'specialised drag car' these 'tricks' make no difference, your a lot better off practicing your starts and gear changes and learning what revs to hold it at. My best time at York was 15:02, my best at pod was 15:09 and i never swayed much from these times (apart from when i stalled once:eek:)

My new trick is a 12lb chrome bottle filled with a 50bhp wet shot of nitrous. I think it'll make a difference.

i was at pod this weekend and i got a 14.9 with a panel filter, de cat, strait through system, remap and no back seats. i did spin a little on the launch and it span when i went into 2nd too so that didnt help but i have been a few times but never beat my pb of 15.0 so i was well happy.
still want more though :)

Thats pretty cool! How much did that cost if you don't mind me asking?

It all costs between 1.5-2k but it's seriously worth the money! Especially for the big red switch on the dash

That's a really good time Kev, off nos I'm hoping for something between 14.7-14.9 but we'll see :)

Fred the dynacup is full of awesome :) ah that reminds me, I'll be giving you a call tomorrow!

power mods were milltek cat-back(std cat on), BMC CDA (may not give me any power though lol),
other mods: helix organic clutch (k-tec gr N kit), ktr engine mounts, poly dogbone mount
the results above were obtained at 1am, 5 degrees Celsius in the air.

bumping this thread a little, have any of the sc turbo guys ran at pod? what were they getting? intrested more in terminal speed. also ,y clio ran 14.4 at 95 stock bar back seats out

Man up. 50 shot on a progressive controller with some cold plugs should be fine. Rods are good for 300bhp or so ive read on here. Nitrous doesn't effect pistons the 'normal' way, its pretty gentle on them to be honest.

Would you risk it for a chocolate biscuit? ;)

Thread from the Dead. lol

Vicky, this was a good day!! Looking forward to doing it again this year. Hopefully run little bit more power and bit lighter too. We'll have to have a go against each other for sh*ts and giggles.

that's a good time!! almost never see 172s get into 14s without pretty major work. standard cars doing high 15s most of the time.

most of the 172s iv seen down the strip have been very low 15s, with the majority of them mid to late 14s. rhys', chris n nics, tim o's, charlie o's, paddys all running around late 14s, obviously chris' a little quicker with the rsport ecu.

mind you ....this was a good fewyears ago now......and ppl still chasing their times ;)

Hey, yeah it was good fun and I can't wait til May for the first one of the year :D Shame the other two are on the same days as FCS and Trax!

Lmao I remember your car, I fear it would kill mine lol! However I will have the NOS in this time so with a bit of luck I'm hoping for high 13's. What was your best time?

My best time last year was against a Red corvette Sting ray. i got a 14.6 last year. but i was no where near full power (over fuelling due to faulty TPS) and shite tyres.

I got a nice set of Toyo R1R's and a Quaife LSD, so when i'm making full power again i hope to crack 13's. But we'll see. an improvement is all i'm after. Defo have to meet up and have a little race when were there. Might get some gas myself.

Have you tried any of the apps for the iphone?

I downloaded pocket dyno and had a quick go in my megane and got 14.89 @103 which suprised me how close it was as i got 14.82 @102 at a local rwyb
Key is to do it with full 3g service and i think iphone4's have littls better results?!

All I saw was this. Green. WANT! Sod paying over a grand for one in the clio though!

Tbh I think even with my NOS yours would leave mine standing lol! Always up for a go though!

Lol The Quaife is great. i had my box rebuilt too whilst having it fitted. wish i had got lightened and balanced flywheel and 6 paddle clutch at same time, but will do that this year hopefully.

I wouldn't be so sure Vicky. Mine geot off the line really well last year but i got pipped by bigger car as i crossed the finish line. I think it would be closer than you think. but yea defo up for it.

Later in the year i'm gonna go for forged pistons and rods plus a 300 degree cam and try and crack 180bhp (150bhp at the wheels) from the 8v. Hopefully stick 100 shot of Nos on her too. Be ready for 2012 season.
