Quick cleans...

The car is looking pretty sorry for itself at the moment, but I really havent got the time to do a proper clean on it, as I need all the time and energy I can get for all my Uni work.

My question is, would it suffice to just snow foam the car, rinse off and then water sheet across the car?
Wouldnt obviously be great, but I dont want to totally leave it until the end of May, which is when I plan to detail it.

Also, snow foaming wise, would it be of any benefit to do a mix of snow foam, shampoo and water? Rather than just snow foam and water? Any difference?

Cheers.

I find the snowfoam/jetwash doesnt really clean the car tbh. Surely you could just add the 2bm to it, it'll only take an extra 5-10 mins or are you just being mega lazy ? ;)

^^ Same here, used my brother in laws and decided not to spend the ££'s on one myself. The free one with my nilfisk washer does fine :)

Snowfoaming will take me like 15minutes in total, if I just do that. Doing a proper little clean will take me over an hour, when you factor in cleaning the wheels, drying etc. It is me being lazy tbh, but id rather waste my energy on this shed load of work that I have.

The major point of just wanting to snowfoam is to get rid of alot of crap thats on the car. I wouldnt expect it to be gleeming, but to get rid of random crap thats on the car. Usually when I snowfoam, the car does look pretty clean after (the whole point of it is to get rid of the crap on the car so you dont wipe dirt across your paint).

You can mix snow foam with a All Purpose Cleaner such as G101 (Autosmart) or Clean All (Autoglym) I find snow foam isnt very good without it to be honest. If your car is well waxed then with this system you should be ok. Best not touching the car as much as you can help it. If its really dirty the 2 bucket method as mentioned will be best.

Wrong.

APC will strip waxes and sealants. So every time you wash your car, it is reducing the protection. Think I'll stick to the correct methods ta - don't offer advice if you are not sure.

So would a snow foam suffice for a quick perk up to keep it happy until the end of the month??

If the car has been sealed properly, a jet wash down might suffice. It's never going to be as good for the paint as a proper wash, but at least the jet wash will get rid of some of the dirt/dust/pollen build up.

Cheers JD. Its nicely sealed up, so it will do for now. Im not expecting miracles. Its more to get rid of any bird crap residue that may still be there and some of the bugs etc

I use the PW at work and give the wheels a quick light clean if I don't want to full 2bm/dry the car.

Better than a pre-wash harming expensive wax layers!

PW will lift a lot of crap from the car and the arches/wheels, my wheels are covered in brake dust after about a day so a quick pw at work is ideal for me.

Depending on how dirty the car is a PW will be fine.

Very surprised to here this suggestion from a detailer, knowing apc will strip any protection on the paintwork is schoolboy knowledge surely

I pre wash with Hyper Wash, pH neutral and dilutes superbly.

Precisely.

Detailer.... BWAB/

Bwab??? Something WITH A BUCKET I am guessing?

Billy with a Buffer. Generic term for someone who has bought a polisher and is now promoting their paid for services to clients, but lacks the knowledge to detail safely and to achieve decent results.
