Quick question about a chip.....

I noticed on Sat that someone had banged their door against mine resulting in a wee dent and a chip out of the paintwork.

Is there anything i can stick over the chip to stop it rusting so quick? The chip has taken off the paint and primer.

Any help appreciated

I would touch it up with some touch up paint from the dealer and a fine artists paint brush.

Mask around the chip and give a couple of layers of a clear laquer.That should stop rust in the meantime.

If its gonna be a while before you have time to repair it, i'd just put a couple of layers of wax over the chip to seal it , keep out the moisture .
If you lacquer it , its gonna create work , removing the lacquer before you can attempt a repair , imo .

How is that.Would you respray the small dented area .If so i would not like to see the state of your car after a minor accident.You would respray the full door,which means rubbing the door down anyway.If you put wax on it it will come off after a couple of washes.Come on use the head.

Did i mentioned anything about the dent ?? NO I DIDN'T . Use your eyes before you use your mouth in future .

It sounds like its just a small car parking dent . Lots of PDR companies out there " should " be able to sort it !

Using a good wax will help to keep out the moisture until the time comes for her to get it repaired .

Who mentioned anything about her washing it ?? For all we know she might not wash it , eh !! :rasp:
