Quick Question..

  CLIOpatra, L22EE W™
Ok,

I am getting my JBL Sub & Amp fitted tomorrow morning. I got a 1000w Sub, and a 2/3/4 Ch 600w Amp. At this moment in time my h/u seems to sometimes struggle with the music I play out load, hence I get crappy, fuzzy sound after a lil while. Anyhow I am hoping that getting this Amp fitted, it will take the strain off the h/u and play my tunes nice and loud, without the fuzzy sound!

Currently got a Alpine CDA-9812RB, with a layout of a speaker in each door card (front), and a speaker in each door card (rear). So am running like 4 speakers off the headunit. Now I am thinking this:

Will I need to run the rears off the h/u or the amp, or don't I need them at all? After all I will have the sub in the boot. I know that I will be running the fronts off the amp, so that will use 2 channels, then I am going to get them to bridge my sub, so that will take another 2 channels - 4 in total.

How does all that sound? Or would you suggest something different?

:rasp:

Yes do exactly that. The fronts off 2 channels, sub off 2 bridged channels, rears off HU or off completely.

How much to get it all fitted?

Got quoted £70, Was happy with that as the max figure I was willing to spend was £100. Getting it fitted @ 9am this morning, I can't wait!

How was it?

Did they mount the amp anywhere for you, and bolt the sub down securely to the boot floor?

Oh and it's a good idea to make sure you set the gain on the amp correctly with the HU's volume to minimize damaging the speakers with a distorted (clipped) + amplified signal. You're after a nice clean signal for your setup to get the best out of it.

There's a good guide here (Method 2 - Listening). The installers may have already done this, but it's better to check than blow speakers/fuses after ramping the volume right up with too much gain.

Yeh things went well, but was told the installation would take like 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Didn't end up getting my car back til 1.30pm, so it took more like 4 1/2 hours. But other than that everything seems to be good.

Much better sound too...
