quick question

  Charged Superleggera
when assembling a front coilover ive wound the collars right down then assembled them but can anyone tell me if i need to compress the coilover spring further?

Don't really understand the question mate? The compression you place on the spring determines the ride height predominantly - so that's your own choice.

i mean when you assemble the coilover unit ie put the bearing and rubber mount on top of it do you need to compress the coilover spring at all? probably a silly question but just want to clarify

ok still not entirely sure lol:

Once the spring is put on the shaft of the shock you put the top section on.

The threaded end of the shaft should come through the middle of the top section, depending on how high/low you have the adjustable collar wound too you may need to compress the spring to tighten the retaining bolt on top. Once you've got the bolt on a few turns you can do it up with a spanner/socket and it will pinch up on its own accord
