D Djw Dave Car Rb 182 Mar 4, 2006 #1 Been doing work on the engine and came across a wee problem. The surface between the head and the bottom end is dirty. I have cleaned it but it really needs like sanded off. see pic. Any one any idea on what would be best to use?? Cheers

BenR Mar 5, 2006 #9 You can get gasket material spray to clean it off. Then check with a precision edge to see if its flat. If its not, a precision edge with 1200 wet&dry, be gentle and stop & check often, you dont have to do too much. Low points will be evident withing seconds, and if its flat, it will be aswell. But you have to be careful not to bow the surface.
