Quick Reg. transfer question

Got my new 182 yesterday, and want to put my private plate on it. at the moment all i have is the small part of the V5 that you take when you buy a car.

am i able to transfer registrations with this, or do i have to wait for the full V5 to come first?

wait for the full V5 to come I think mate, as on that it will state whether or not the existing registration is transferrable.

i picked up the forms yesterday to do it, looks pretty complicated, need both v5's both mot's both tax discs.. great!

^^bloody hell - the government love to make us fill out endless and pointless forms - prob so we give up and dont bother...

Im pretty sure with the small bit you can still do a reg transfer, but not 100% certain,

Im having to wait twelves months for the DVLA to return my reg.... gutted.

Why are you having to wait that long?

I've got to go to luton next week and get my plate transfered over - Hopefully they will put the old plate back on my hyundai.

stolen car, never recovered. DVLA refuse to release the plate for 12mths. Theft was Dec05 so I have to wait until dec06 for it come through.

As of December last year your car needs to be taxed and MOT'd before you can Remove the reg. So say for example you have had it laid up and these have expired, you will need to both tax and MOT it first just to take the reg off!!!!

mine was simple, when i took purchase of my 182 it had private reg on so took the whole v5 to my local dvla office(wimbledon) and gave them both the v5 and my private plate retention certificate and asked them to put the 1 thats on the car on retention and register my 1 to the car, took 2 weeks for my tax disc to come through(displayed my plate) then 2 weeks after that got the v5 through with my ownership details, 1 week after that got the retention certificate through for the other private plate,
