Quote by specialist-any good?

Evening,

I've had a quote by a specialist to have the timing belt kit, dephaser, Aux belt kit and water pump changed, all new renault parts with one year guarantee for £600 all in, is that any good or a bit steep? its on a 172 cup, any other things recommended to be changed prior to be abused on track? im gonna get a good look over the car and see if anythings required, i will defo be changing front discs(standard) pads(DS3000) and fluid, coolant & thermostat, oil & filter, plugs & leads, gear oil and power steering fluid, engine is being left standard apart from dog bone mount and a remap maybe later on, one thing i have noticed is there is no 'specialists' up in the north east of scotland, closest one is a three hour drive in stirling

Is it on a Cup though? Thought they were usually a couple of hundred cheaper due to not removing the air con or whatever.

About £60 too high, but not bad (assuming its a proper cup without ac)

Don't think the cheaper prices include the cost of a dephaser or waterpump.

It's definitely worth travelling to get it done by one of the specialists to get the cambelt kit changed on these cars

That quote is over the going rate from one of the specialists/Traders on here but appreciate there won't be many garages up your way that could do it (correctly)

from my experience, doing the dephaser on a 1*2 in theory isn't any different from doing say a scenic k4m or a twingo k4m which use the dephaser for it's vvt. this job really shouldn't be beyond any garage out there. i know that i've done plenty over the years, and vvt does take a little bit longer but if you use the correct tools and follow the procedure then nothing much can go wrong. i also noticed you said ''specialist'', i'd definitely put my trust in someone who does this sort of job day in day out. it could be a completely different story if you're taking it to a backstreet garage getting it done for dead cheap by a spotty little chav, but i'd have no worries with a specialist.
