race brake pads

No, my race pads do the same. If you get them even hotter they stop squeeling.
The squeeling on mine seems louder when you just got them really hot and they are cooling down.
When mine are really hot and you come to a stop you can actually hear them grinding into the discs. Not sure whether thats good or bad really

its on a mk1 1991 16v, so not the same setup as you...
I dont have a clue which ones they are. They are the ones they used to use when they raced the clio 16v cup years and years ago.
Yeah the squeeling is quite annoying at times, people look etc. People probably think that my car needs a good service or something but i got them for free and they are the first brakes that i havnt managed to glaze over doing 80-0mph repeatedly on dual carriages with roundabouts, so im keeping them till i can afford some fast road ones.

When the brakes are glazed over the disc and pad surfaces look basically like two mirrors and as you can imagine they dont grip each other very well. This normally happens from them getting too hot. When they are glazed over they do also squeel but yours shouldnt be glazed over. Glazed over squeel is a slightly different squeel from what I remember.
You could get race pads to glaze over in a race situation, but you would struggle to get that much heat into them on the road.
My race pads squeel but if i look at my discs they are a lovely grey matt colour.

You haven't bought and Audi, or BMW, or Mercedes, but one of the finest hot-hatches money can buy.

These thin plates (shims) are slightly softer metal designed to be placed between the brake pads and caliper pistons. Because they are softer they reduce/eliminate the very small vibration on the pads that cause squeaking.
So if you removed them, put them back. It should reduce/eliminate the squeak.
You can buy more or small pieces of rubber can be used (I had some come with my Green Pads).

This is not a definitive guide or anything, but...
1. Take the engine cover off. Loosen the Brake reservoir cap (this must be done otherwise you can't push the piston back into the caliper).
2. Remove wheel etc.
3. Remove brake pads (no need to remove the whole caliper (Subway)).
4. I use a screw driver to push back the piston (make sure you don't get grease or scratch the discs).
5. Cover the metal side of the pad with the shim plus a dap of copper grease.
6. Fit both pads back in (if your like me, you'll realise you haven't pushed the pistons back far enough, if so repeat step 4, LOL!).
7. Refit caliper and wheel.
8. Repeat other side.
9. Now replace cap on brake reservior.
10. Pump pedal, start engine, test brakes.

did it earlier, didnt need to remove brake fluid cap, the squealing has almost stopped, theres a slight squeal from the right side but its nothing compared to before, im surprised i did it with out any problems, and 99% of the time there is!!!! cheers for the guide mate!!

^^^ I think the yellow stuff pads are more of a full blown race pad , maybe you could try the redstuff pads .
