Race fuel cell

Oh hell yeah - good luck mate!

The world needs a tiny Mike Strutter ragging french hatches around ;)

lmao... fingers crossed... welding before primary school i guarantee!!

as for the topic.. if your suffering with surge issues then a swirlpot would be the easiest/cheapest solution.. if the battery was put into the cabin maybe run a small swirlpot and hi pressure pump in the engine bay?? you`d do away with any fume issues.. i know some people might say the heat build up could affect the fuel but i doubt very much it`d be a performance killer...

  182cup & 172 racecar
There is actually room for it under the scuttle panel,we just didn't fancy putting it there. Can't remember why now though.

  M3, Cup racer'd 182
I've not done a track day in the car yet so not sure if the car has problems with surge but seamed fine around twisty roads up my way ;), just thought as i'm in the stage of fitting a cup racer roll cage (so fully stripped) i'd also tackle every other possible problem that i might get.

Saves doing another time.
But as for the battery in the cabin yes that's how i'll be havin it, there's not much room under the bonnet (where the battery sits) as i have a alloy heat Sheild to house the air filter (heat soak).

please excuse my ignorance.... these clios arent really my thang.. but does your 182 have a spare wheel well??? if not how about hanging all the the fuel systen unerneath the boot floor like the 106 maxi`s used to???

hmmm i know the 106 maxi runs it with a simple ally cradle to protect it... and the old sierra cosworths ran there pump in a cradle underneath too.... and the mk2 golf gtis have a "collector" /swirl pot and there high pressure pump underneath....

lol.. sorry, i wasn`t being an arse, just typin/thinking aloud... i must admit if i was competing/track day`ing i`d make the tank smaller and mount the pumps/filter inside the box and DZUS a lid over the lot rather than sit beside "the bomb"....

^ lol
No doesn't have a spare wheel well :), I don't like the thought of the swirl pot and all the fuel pipes underneath near the exhaust.

Even if it had a cradle like the others you mentioned it still sounds dangerous due to heat/debris if I was to run over something.

It's ok i'll find a place for it on the inside, i could always mount it near the raised floor behind the passenger/drivers seat.

Don't forget the scuttle panel area.

aye now he mentions it, i was welding up some of the redundant openings on a racecar Matt is building @trackgroup/TDF and the clio scuttle area is quite deep... could easily stash a 1litre swirlpot + high pressure pump in there....... or like you say, in the back of the boot area.. but PLEASE use proper fittings and teflon pipe rather than the rubber s**t and jubilee clips with fake aero fittings.. they really are the dogs dinner of fuel plumbing imo...

^ yes always a possibility i am thinking of running a single wiper same as yours tony, so will create more room :).

And yes stu i havn't used cheap s**t in the car yet so dont plan to anytime soon.

Good man... i dont want to sound patronising but theres 9 blogs full of crap nowadays for every "good" build soo stating the obvious becomes 2nd nature hahaha

Yes i know what you mean but then budget comes into it for some, i dont have a budget so dont care if it takes me years to complete.
As one of my many moto's if your going to do something do it properly 1st time :).

  Radical SR3
I did this on my starlet racer, just cut out the wheel recess welded in a plate to cover the hole, got an alloy tank made up with baffles in to take the stock pump unit...cost me 300 all in, dropped it in the car, sorted. Lighter even if centre of gravity is a little higher and moved further back to adjust pivot point of car....great fun to do also.
