RaceChip vs Custom ECU remap.

This video is pretty good. Turns out it connects to the fuel rail and the boost pressure sensor so it probably does control boost.

Typical tuning box then, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Better even with a cheap remap, it's such a common and old engine that even cheap generic maps are generally massively tried and tested and work fine.

It'll report a false reading to the ECU to get it to request more boost out of the Turbo, so you end up with more boost in a roundabout kinda way.

Better than the ones that just hook into the fuel rail and dump a bunch more fuel into the engine.

Ive now another option as Ive sussed that K-Tec Racing, Renault tuning specialists, are about 110 miles from me, and will do a tailored Remap for my Phase 1, with before and after Dyno print outs for around £300

Deffo an option over RSTuning box, and having matched inlets, bored out throttle body and induction kit, a tailored remap sounds just the job

Thinking late Spring after MOT, if anyone else fancies a little meet down there...….

K-tec is far from me, but i have always wanted to check it out.

How far is Chris at EFI from you or Engine Dynamics. Andy at ED mapped my 182 with 197 cams and it was lovely.

EFI is Cheshire so a loooooong drive from Sussex (4hrs+ and 260 miles e.w. too far)
Engine Dynamics, Kelvedon, nr Colchester- not a nice drive (1hr 50 mins and 100 miles e.w- doable)

Do some research on ktecs mapping reputation, I'm not sure if it's changed in the last few years but if it hasn't I wouldn't go near them.

I love their parts always had great service but the mapping side of things had a terrible reputation

I think they work with RS Tuning in Leeds now but would want that confirmed.

Previous mappers seem to have disappeared

I drove from Scotland to EFI, definitely not too far if you want the best job done.

Remap at somewhere reputable and it’ll be a nippy car and not s**t the fuel pump 5mins later down the road.

DERVTec Manchester , RS tuning in Leeds. Or anywhere else once you’ve done your research into a decent company.

Anything over 125/130Hp is bullshit figures.

Martins been there and done that , so have I lol.

Please don’t waste your money on tuning boxes or so called ‘ map in a box ‘

As above, bluefin from superchips is a bit more expensive at £300 but worth the money imo, their figures are conservative or should I say realistic but great experience from me on my dci65, and 80 and my birds MK4 dci90 is fantastic with their map too.

As above the fuel pump really isn't under a great deal more stress with a decent remap unless you want to run the car flat out in 5th all day in which case you probably bought the wrong car!
