The last thing members of this forum would ever contemplate is exceeding the speed limit...however,next week Makro are offering Euro 220 radar,gatso etc detectors at half price £69.99...my question is does anyone have any experience of this, or any other model, and do they work

they do but these days youd be better off with a gps detetctor, like road angel or B2, trya search.

cheers for that, but the road angel is about £300 more plus yearly subs,so it will be a lot better. It seemed to me that if you got one warning with the cheapo model, it would have paid for itself.

the min thing is laser you need to look out for. All other cameras are not hidden or hard to spot. But laser is hardest to detect.

If you get a cheaper one make sure it detects laser and mount it correctly on your screen. You can get a laser only reciever from blackspot.com

Most fixed cameras are easy to spot nowadays anyway. Likewise mobile traps at the side of the road. The only things you cant guard against are laser and a follow check. Theres nothing you can do about a policeman in a patrol car doing a follow check on you, as I found out when I just got banned for 28 days. As soon as your detector gives a laser warning, its already too late, laser does an instantaneous, almost perfectly accurate reading, which you cant dispute in court. The only way to protect against laser is to have a laser jammer.
