Oh my new head unit has a dvd player but you cant play dvds unless the hand brake is on and i have attached it to the handbrake yet, but i was thinking of attaching it to my sidelights as i bought it so that my brother can watch dvd's when i go an see my famil down south! As its a 5 hour trek! Has any one got any suggestions so it will always work!

WOAH!

Don't connect it to a live source, connect it to earth. If you want it on all the time it must be out of sight of the driver or you will get done !

Not on a Clio it didn't, the handbrake terminal goes down to earth when the brake is on.

It may be your unit is "intelligent" for cars that work the other way round, but tbh I am struggling to think of a car that has a positive h/b switch. Lotus and Jag are the only ones I can come up with.

Well what about the switch to make the light come on, on your dash?

Would that work?

I am flying without instruments here, you have the instructions, does it say on them something like "connect to ground via the handbrake wire, or connect to the handbrake warning light" or what does it say?

If you cant understand the wiring diagrams, scan it and post it and I will have a look for you.....

If they are on your PC you can cut and paste them from Word or whatever you use, or copy them to photo bucket and post them as images., like this.

The light green wire, No7 has to go to ground for the screen to work.

Don't forget, If the screen is VISIBLE to the driver, you can not have it in operation whilst the car is moving.

I have connected it to my handbreak as it says. It works a treat and I fitted a sub and an amp! Thanks for your help!
