Don't even get me started on this!
The other week i disconnected my battery, and on returning to the car was greeted with the radio asking me for a code - simple i thought, so i read the book and went about entering the code printed on the sticker inside my radio manual. ERRKKKK! ERROR, so then i have to wait for 2 minutes before i can retry; again it asks for my code so i enter it via the stalk this time....ERKKKKK! ERROR. Now i have a 4 minute wait...now i have a 30 minute wait.
So in between pulling my hair out and calling Renault to confirm my details, i also contacted J3ned who confirmed my code as being the one in the service manual. Which leaves me absolutely flummoxed. So i take the car to Renault explaining my radio doesn't appear to be playing ball (it is the original radio confirmed via barcode) they basically told me "Strange that, you may have to take it to the original dealer to have it recoded, otherwise it will have to be sent away for repair" So basically i went about arguing that THE RADIO IS NOT BROKEN it just needs the damn code!
The only things i can think of that would influence the code not being accepted is that i have my iPod wired into the CD Changer port instead of the default changer. So i'm not sure if they communicate to verify the code or not, but it seems a long shot.
Eitherway im getting extremely f00ked off by the rattles my car decides to play for me, and by Renaults seemingly inept "computer says no..." attitude.
Anybody has prior experience with these things then please speak up, as right now im thinking about opening the unit up to see what i can bypass. Fact i might look on eBay to see if theres some savvy criminal tool which recodes the damn thing.
donsrno1 - your method of entering the code is correct.
