iv got an oldish one i used to use years back.

when mobile phones first came out it would pick up analogue phone convo's. heard some right stuff!

No point really unless you spend money on getting a digital one because alot of things like the police use now but not always somthing to do with reception

The anologue mobiles were good I heard some crazy stuff aswell only downside was you only got half the conversation normally so was a bit of a guessing game!

If it's for the police your wasting your time there are a few channels you here stuff on sometimes but nothing compared to what I used to pick up. All you can really get is Fire Brigade and ATC these days.

The Police are now on new digital encrypted channels so are no longer readily available for listening to.

once heard this couple on phone, lass was working in a chippy and bloke was telling her to play wtih her sen behind counter and suck her fingers. next min shes said iv got to go someone come in for fish and chips lol :dead:

and also this blokes voicemail being proper threatened by someone, left him about 6 messages.

I used to pick up a police channel from my alarm-radio!!

This was a few years back and was right at the end frequency. Bizarre!

Years ago my old man had one, was listening on it, and some guy said he left £200 behind a loose rock on a wall in out local supermarket for this guy he was talking to on the phone to collect, me and my dad went down there, located the brick moved it out but there was no money , or they guy who was supposed to be getting it got there before us! lol

my dads got one
a fair few years ago we used to listen to pilots coming into land at the local airport. kinda geeky but pretty cool

used to be some funny convosations with foreign pilots

I've got a Yaesu VR500 handheld, 1-1300MHz, main part is smaller than a fag packet. If you get one and want to listen to 'interesting' stuff tune around the 452MHz & 862MHZ areas - so im told, no idea what it is though

I have a Alinco DJX3 100kHz - 1300MHz and it was pretty good whenever I used it. Now it gets dusted off for airshows and that's about it.

I once spent over £400 on a AOR AR8200 MarkIII but had no idea how to use it so it got sold to a German guy on ebay

My mate had one (that wasn't legal lol) and he could almost listen to almost everything and transmit too as he used to talk to taxi drivers, security guards, people on walkie talkies, analogue phones etc. Unofrtunatly it got confinscated when offcom radied his home after some companies complained of interferance on their security systems as he used to play drum & bass through some of their channels for a laugh
