This isn't about my car, it's DCI Raz's car that's gone wrong and he's out there somewhere
with a car that's playing up, so he's asked me to ask you lot.

It's randomly cutting out completely without warning lights or anything,
turn ignition off and it'll restart, it gets worse with aircon on.

He's checked the battery, all earths, crank & TDC sensor and the car's got half a tank of fuel in it.
also fuel needle spazzes out on start up.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

cheers, dave

to update, that

we have had a snap-on diog tool on, RAC/ AA launch and renault clip computer plugged into to if anythings there. no faults found.

car is doing it every 5mins mins or less. doesnt matter if driving slow or foot to the floor.

fuel tank sender unit taken off and cleaned. injectors checked and fuel pump tested.

all that happens is, going allong down the road, a thud that makes the car jump and then nothing. try turning the key and the dash cluster spazzes out.
leave it say 20 seconds , restarts and is fine until it happens again shortly after.

been perfect up until today

wiring loom taken apart and inspected. naff all wrong.

ecu cant be broken as the car runs for a while until it cuts out again.

You need to look at what is happening when it cuts out. Sounds like a power outage to me.

we've took the fuel sender unit out and tested it, it trips out at 1/4 of a tank..... so that leads me to beleive the unit is faulty and not delivering enough ' low ' pressure to the high pressure pump.

other thank that mick, power outage as in? some type of wire arking out onto the engine ?

Are you sure it has a low pressure lift pump? Most K9K's are vac fed

its a big unit that we pulled out.

has a solinoid type thing in the bottom, and that has a mesh filter thing attached to that. 2 connections on to. green outgoing fuel line and red return pipe.

3 wiring pins.

we've tried using it wth a megan 1.5 dci fuel sedner unit ( look identical ) but stil the car cuts out without warning. we cant get the clip computer to keep comunication either when it cuts out. dead as a dodo ......

any suggestions ?

or a run down as to thing to check

( post count for the day running low , thanks to a f**ked up bank card )

There's your problem then... Either main power, earth or comms is having its arse pulled out so no running.

The K9K works off a 5v sensor feed which is in theory like a set of old Christmas tree lights in that if one bulb goes they all go and on this platform the sensors and comms are the same. If a fault occurs in one the lot falls over. unfortunately, without seeing it and being able to probe I can't really give you any serious help I'm afraid.

If only I could figure out my starting problems,
it's obviously the starter motor and i've read that cleaning the spade connector can fix the exact problem i've got,
I just have no clue what it looks like or how i'd get to it.

Back of the engine, attached to gearbox bell housing.
You wont get it from above. So an underneeth job.

Connectors to the starter motor are easy to clean up. I would advise disconnecting the battery first lol. Iv watched so many people bring their cars upto andys as the'ye blown something by arcing out terminals.
