rare colours...

just reading another thread and its been bugging me for a while...
why do people think "rare" colours are better??

they are rare for a reason.

no fucker bought them in that colour new... and there is again a reason for that... because not many people liked the colour.

not because reno only made a certain number in that colour :nono:
liquid yellow, sunflower yellow, hologram grey, petrol blue etc etc etc... rare because no one wanted that colour car.... so why does it then make them more desirable whne they are second hand

please someone explain i just dont get it

Not 100% true - Some are rare due to the silly prices Renault charged for them and there was no way of seeing what it would actually be like in the flesh when you ordered, others are rare indeed becuase they where nasty - Petrol Blue and Lunar Grey for starters.

Its all about showing off the colour that nobody else has, some people will buy them even though they don't particulary like them, just because other people will.

obviously there is the odd exeption to the rule.

trophy red etc etc but on a rule of thumb i just dont see ehy people see rare = better

Yeah some colours were slightly expensiver as they used different paint from the showroom.

With them releasing little theres more demand for something witha lesser supply hence the price.

I like the Petrol Blue(?) one, they look right trippy!

its something u wont have to worry about I suppose bein one of the most popular colours out there!!

I know what you mean but I guess people play it safe like rich said, just not sure what a certain colour would look like, Play it safe buy silver!!!

People like rarity a yellow 172 stands out which many people like.

Also peope like standing out often and being the only one etc.

i had a hologram grey but thats because i actually liked the colour. i dont like having a silver car tho booooooooooooring

Liquid yellow seems a pretty popular colour on here, which is rare. People just didn't wanna pay the extra £1200 extra new I guess, it's not that no one liked it.

Rarity doesn't come into it, it's just different to the majority that's all.

Having said that, black is 0.02 secs faster than the silver shades as the molecules in the paint weigh less...

i bought my rare colour because i like the way it looks.

My choice was made when Tom showed me a picture of a bronze v6 at the Frankfurt show. I felt it would suit my age better than most colours that's all. I don't think of it as anything to feel anymore important about, but more like I'm a tad weird given noone else in the UK chose that colour.

Not to mention it's a right bugger to get the paint match right. Needs a proper sprayer with experience. Many have failed.
