rarr - getting to pro speed prob, help..

Hi all - right, should have my car back tomorrowish and have booked it in with charlie at prospeed for Sat may 21st @ 1:30pm.. It will take me about 3hrs to get there.. but charlie warned me just to check if there are any sporting events going on in cardiff to leave early as it would be chaos.. i assumed it would be ok but thought i would check anyway... WELL, there is a sport called "football" and they are part of a "football association" (http://www.thefa.comwww.thefa.com) - they have a competition each year and the final is on THAT day!!.. will i be screwed? - has anyone else ever gone to prospeed when there is a game on in cardiff??

(sorry, yes, i was being sarcastic with the footie thing - just had to seriously explain the above to a work colleague! dumb @rse - jesus)

Its 3pm mate.... basically i WILL be going no matter what its just planning it i guess.. maybe go after work on friday, or go another way or just wait in the queue!.. i dunno.. rarrr..

it is seriously bad, i went when the game was over last year and the m4 was literally blocked for miles and miles, never mind getting into cardiff.

Bloody hell!.. im busy the week after too (bank holiday) and just want it DONE!

Think it might be worth me staying over friday night??

if you plan your route right you will have no trouble - get off the M4 at cardiff west services then take the bypass all the way to town centre - this way you will miss the footbal traffic as they all turn off before town. Once you reach the end of the bypass prospeed is only about 5 mins away.

One point to remember though - do not go back the same way if after the fooball has finished as there will be massive queues joining the m4 again

I live in Cardiff and rarely notice bad traffic. My advice would be to leave a little earlier and take it easy as a precaution.

hmmm k k Ben thx... its just that every one ive spoken to have all done the "mechanic about to give bad news" impression, been all blowy shaking their heads and all sorts.. as you live there then i spose i have to believe you really... cheers,... ill leave at 8am and should be there for 1:30pm.. only a 2hr30min drive anyway!..

Where are you leaving from Floodie? If the match is at 3pm, the traffic wont really build until about 1-2pm on the M4 nearing Cardiff. Most of the time, in fact, its pretty clear. Id say you would be safe leaving at 9.30 or 10am to arrive by 1.30pm.

Where are you coming from? I.e. at which point will you join the M4?

oh see if you can find a good B & B just outside Cardiff come down Friday night sample the delights of welsh beer Friday and then pop to pro-speed on the Saturday

if you get stuck with finding somewhere to stay due to the dreaded Football game let me know and i will see what i can find for you just outside Cardiff
