rattle rattle rattle :-(

does anyone know any tricks or tips to get rid of those so damn annoying rattles in the glove box, electric windows and the dash. They are driving me insane.

Also my clutch seems to creak as you bring it into the biting point. Makes it difficult driving into work in heavy traffic. Any ideas, is this is a sticky clutch?? Or will a tub o grease solve the problem?

And my brake pedal seems to be nosiy too, makes a sound like its puffing air out as i press it. Any ideas guys?

And my little cuppy doesnt seem to sound to wel at the moment. the engine sounds really poorly!!! Could this be an air filter problem or something to with changing the oil?

Yep. Because:

1: Its french. Thats a bad start. As Jezza Clarkson once said: "Theyre fine once all the plastic bits have fallen off, then they go on forever."

2: Its Renault. Theyre by far and away the worst of the French.

3: Theyre not built in the same plant as the other Clios. IME most of the problems seem to occur with the 172/Cups, which are built at a different factory.

Thats what they want to happen, you leaving them alone.

Get it back to them with a list of ALL the problems and keep on going back until they are all sorted....you dont have to be sh*ty with them just be firm and confident.

well they wont be happy if i take this in:

rattling dash, passenger/driver windows and glove box.

AKTIS update: fixes rear brake clunking noise, rattling front suspension and exhaust rattle at 4000rpm.

creaking clutch

dodgey brake pedal

new spoiler brake light.

dodgey/noisy front right suspension.

tracking check.

It will take them about a year to get all that right i think.

Yes, try another dealer, tell them that theyve been recomended to you coz they are good at getting things sorted (people like compliments, it will make them want to help you) and you came to them coz you need some one good ....then hit em with the list.......

I basically took some masking taped up any loose exposed cables under the dash together then taped the tired up cables to the inner sides of the dash to stop them moving. Consequently I hardly get any rattles.

jpmad4it2 (now that is a name!!!!) - i have got 3 of the problems you have (rattling dash, rattling window and creaky clutch).

dash - fook knows what to do. problem is ive heard of stories of people going into dealer about the rattly dash and then driving away with MORE noises. im scared of lettiing them loose on it.

rattling window - mine happens when its half down. apparently there is a "designator/selector" or something like that that supports the windo. my dealership have just ordered me a new one.

creaky clutch - i have had this for ages and thought it was just me. one dealer said it was normal - though i knew he was bullsh*tting. my new dealer (very good guy) - says it definately is not right and has ordered me a new clutch. i think it is wharped. does it feel really bitty (not smooth AT ALL) and makes traffic driving virtually impossible? you have to put much more force on the pedal to make it move? if so, im sure its fooked.

yep mate, they are the probs. So my clutch is fooked and i need a new window part. ah ha more orders for the renault guy. my list is gonna be longer than santas!!!!!

Im going to try and stick a massive piece of Dynomat or Blue tak to the sunroof!!

I totally forget to mention about my drivers side window knocking when its open. There are so many rattles some drown out others and the rest I tend to try and ignore.

zodiac i took the K&N off, cos it was pants, maybe cos i didnt fit the cold air hose on. But many people say they are rubbish with it on anyway. Why do u ask??

I have just replaced my K&N for the standard airbox because mine is going in for a few things, dodgy clutch and starting probs. But have to say that the K&N made a massive difference on my car, especially in low range torque. I fitted the cold air pipe down underneath the bumper of the car up to the air filter, but cant wait to get it back on sounds superb especially the whistle at high revs, also mate has viper and the sound is no way near as good. I am going to get the quicksilver kit though, have heard that is the best for powergains and sound!

Have you tried hittin the noisy part opf the car I have had trouble with the dash rattling reciently so I hit it and that shut it up.

The regards the noise form the glove box put a large heavy item in there my pile of CDs ratte like mad when they were in there but a pile of junk papers from work seems to have stopped any noise.
