Rattling/Squeaking from Manifold/Cat/Front Exhaust area

Hello all,

Apologies for being a new-boy to cliosport.net!

The last couple of months i have been getting more and more bothered by a few funny noises from underneath the front end of my 182 cup. It seems as though it is when i accelerate and lift off or if i jerk the car on the clutch - it only makes these noises when im moving. Rather than anything mechanical it seems as though it is more of a rattle followed with high pitch squeaking from the manifold/front of exhaust/cat area when the car lurches, as if something is loose and metal against metal are causing squeaking somewhere. Also, if i put some revs through it then lift of, as the revs calm down i sometimes hear a popping sort of noise from the same area.

Ive had it in the garage and looked at the heatshield, fixings, bushes/brackets, exhaust/cat etc, but all seemed to be well at the time. I am definately in the market for a new exhaust and sports cat which will hopfully cure it, but i wondered if anyone has experience with other similar noises and what were the problems?

I had a knock when the engine was put under load and moving. Turned out all front wheel nuts had come lose. Probs not your issue but worth a check!

The grinding could be excessive play in a mount?
