RCA spur off speaker wires.

Is it just as simple as soldering the ends of an RCA cable onto the speaker wires or do i need a little box of tricks to change the signal or whatever?

It's to connect to an amp and sub from a standard headunit if it makes a difference.

I don't want to be bombared with posts about how I should get an aftermarket headunit either, I've got an aftermarket one but want to go back to the OEM look.

Cheers.

I want to know if I get an RCA cable with RCA plugs on one end and bare wires on the other and then solder the left and right of the RCA cable to the left and right of one of the speakers, will it then work when plugged into my amp and sub or do I need anything else?

No, you need a little box which converts the signal, cost about a tenner off of ebay

You need a high level input on your amp. Or the box as said above.

Ive never cut open a rca cable but i think its the same as coaxil.

Yea its just coaxial.

The speakers coming out of your HU is already amplified, where as RCA's are line level (ready to be amped, and is a fixed volume)

You need the box, probably got one somewhere...

7quid in halfords-don't notch an RCA direct, low input to high input without conversion will be rather nasty
