re map or superchip??

hi all. just wondering whether to re map my 172 or have it superchiped not sure what the difference is?? could any1 give me some advise plz..

a superchip is an adjusted standard map that you get plug and play, it will increase stuff like fuelling and timing and release a few bhp

a remap is tailored to your engine taking into account any mods you have done and will increase bhp more than a superchip because it's for your engine not just any similar engine

Superchip is a brand of off the shelf remaps. there are various other suppliers of off the shelf remaps. the fastchip option mentioned above is a better version of off the shelf remaps.

the other option is custom maps done on a rolling road.

if you havent done engine mods like cams then i would go for fastchips

how does the fastchip work? do u just plug it in and play?

you plug a box between a laptop and your ecu and you are then able to adjust the map on the ecu

the initial post is basically correct, not sure what you think is wrong about it ? you might argue that superchips did not base their new map on the original but I suspect they probably did.

and indeed, a real remap will take into consideration the whole motor, whatever its camshafts, compression ratio, cylinder head work and so on.

Superchips uk can alter a map to account for ignition retarding & AF, The did the vee and altered it to suit.

Yeh, remap'in an NA car is rather like skiing uphill! A tedious task!

i need my adjusted again now, jeremy townsend was followin me on track and mentioned it was smokin a wee bit on down changes. Will lean it off a wee bit this weekend at RR meet.

Yours may be a superchip but it was tailored so a remap like i stated............

an off the shelf superchip, isn't mapped it's just plug and play
