Rear Beam Bushes Removal

  A special one.
Im removing my rear beam to send it away to be powdered coated, i will need to remove the bushes before this happens.

What is the best way to do this?

Is it worth buying and fitting the Pure MotorSport bearing kit or just fit new Renault bushes? (its a road car btw)

Thanks in advance

Scott.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.... Got a rear beam I am stripping to have powdercoated and then powerflexed. Got it all stripped but having issues with the old beam bushes. Is it just a case of hammering it out?

The outer metal cylinder seems pretty stuck , have wire brushed it and left it over night with wd40 to try and loosen it. I guess im going to have to drill out the rubber inner till im left with just the outer cylinder. tempted to angle grind the cylinder as close to the beam as I dare and the attack with a hammer. the cylinder does have a lip on one end to was going to try and pry it too. hate s**t like this....reminds me of last week when me and @gambit spent hours trying to de pin some brembos.

Drill or burn the rubber out then cut the outer sleeving like you said, fold it in with a hammer and chisel then tap it out.

Yes mate I just cut the rubber center bit out with a sharp chisel then ran a hacksaw blade through the steel center.

Gave it a wack with a hammer and it just pops out.

Hardest part is cutting the rubber out.

De pinning Brembos - sometimes the only way is to cut the pins in half with an angle grinder as they bend. I run upgraded ones I got from @Ph1 Tom to stop them bending / warping.
