Rear 'bouncing' around

Car  53 Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v
We've had the Clio - '53 Dynamique 1.2 for about 10 months or so now and its been great. However i've recently noticed an increased tendancy for the rear to 'bounce/skip' around, especially when you run over something like those yellow lines painted at junctions to let you know they're coming up. Anyone else experienced this kind of problem and what did you do about it?

Its only on 37k! I thought that too, what's the easiest way to tell? Any idea on price for them?

gsf or eurocarparts, plus demon tweeks do a bilstien replacements, dunno if they would do the 1.2s though? or renualt...

my mk1 172 lasted 21k miles and the mk2 172 only lasted 28k miles!!!

they are shite. as said above try gsf for replacements. Easy job to fit aswell, think its 2 13mm nuts IRRC

i found this on my clio with only 6500 on the clock  its only when you go over slightly bumpy ground at 45ish
are shocks covered by the warranty is so should get renault to look at it?

mine werent covered by warrenty. 'Apparently' they only have a 12month manufacturer warrenty.

you could try phoning a stealer but I tried 3 local ones and they all told me the same story.

cheers mate i was thinkin of putting an apex kit on it anyway but surely they shouldnt be faulty after 6500

my mates clio does the same thing but with higher mileage so im guessing its a common problem

defo sounds like shocks to me, 53 plate still has warranty? warranty em, I've had 5 under warranty

Renault will only realy replace them if they leak, I've tried a few times (there are ways round this but not honest ways).

There bound to die over time mine are going at 70k but that not bad with the stock I give it and its still usable for another 70k.

Blistein do a replacment shock kit for £170 or so I've got a set sitting next to me I need to fit on the car this weekend befoe I can give an honest opinion on them. There supposed to be OE original so no need to tell insurance but should last a bit longer.

How did you get on with them? Any links to where to buy the kit?:D

Well my old setup was hard realy (bit of a freeky one no other Clio was that hard) I was holping the bilstine would be the same but there not quite as hard. There still very good though and I'm glad I did upgrade as they should last longer but given the choice I might have liked to go back to standard Renault if they could make me another set of the dampers I had.

For the money they were good. Its a shame the rear damper though is thicker than the stock one as you have to modify the rear cover which isn't mentioned anywhere. Still it doesn't take long to drill a bigger hole in the rubber cover.
