rear damper on 182 knackered

has anyone had this problem.had the car since july 2004 and the rear driverside damper is knackered?

how do u know its the damper??

i have some problems with my front left wheel and not sure what it is, i dont think its a bearing, the power steering feels like its locking when turning right at speed, worrying i know, it also makes noise on bumps, maybe a damper??

happened to me after 6k miles or so, warranty job. Manufacturing fault on damper, seals blow, oil on shaft, bumps from the suspect corner getting worse as you lose more oil.

hopefully youll be covered as Rory said. Both of mine have gone this week on july 03 172. 21k miles. Mine arent covered under warrenty.

£42 +vat each or £170 fitted!! doing it myself for a damn site less.

its knackered as there is oil all over the damper.the problem is i have lowered i!will they suspect this wen i show them the problem?

hehehe. I recently grabbed a bargain on Ebay for some Koni rear adjustable shockers for £30.50 for my Megane...



When i took the old ones off they looked like this..........

My Konis are all installed now and the handling is superb now! amazing difference between them knackered old ones...

Not really. The rears are adjustable so they can be adjusted to try and suit the front dampers... handles like a dream now. Im impressed. Id certainly buy Koni dampers again for future cars.

I just had m,y rear passenger damper replaced under warranty coz it was leaking.

It was also on a july 04 car, but mine has done 24k.

is it chopped springs or new springs on the standard damper? I think youll have to face the music and uprate your dampers to be honest.

well ive booked it in with renault and am thinking will they refuse to do the job as they may see the red eibach springs?o rwill they just ignor it and change the damper?

my 182 has just had its 12,000 service and was told it needs the headlight washer fixing (as its leaking) and one of the rear dampers replacing, probs coz of the track days ive taken it on . Was also told i need 2 new front tyres and the tracking sorted.

When i took it to a local garage the next day to get tyres and tracking sorted they pointed out that there were a few things wrong with the car. As well as the headlight washer and damper which is getting fixed under warranty next week, they said my power steering fluids leaking and that theres alot of wet oil coming from the sump. So ill ask renault to check this out when the other stuff gets fixed

Guy from local garage also said that both rear dampers should be replaced at the same time, but i reckon renault dealer will just try and get away with replacing one.
