rear discs

  b/g 182, meg tourer
my car has been making a loud vibrating noise under motorway speeds braking for a few weeks. it has been getting worse and worse. last night i checked the brakes again (checking them every day)
i found a huge crack in the rear disc! will post a pic later. it goes all the way through one side of the pad area.

is it safe to drive? it doesn't look safe. would hate for the whole thing to crack in half.

yeah, been thinking about it today. not safe at all.

i have a 182. the rear brakes have abs. i can get some non abs discs but will this be a problem or is it advised? i dont really think abs is needed.

Need discs with abs, else it will be even more dangerous. You can tap the old rings off the old discs and press onto the new ones.

how will it make it dangerous?
will it not work the same as usual but instead of the abs kicking in, the rear will just lock up?

You need the ABS rings off your old discs for the ABS to work, it will not work full stop if it has no rear rings.

The normal brakes will work fine, the light will be on, and thats an MOT fail! :)

Can you definately do this? Does that include the bearings too as I know they are part of 182 rear disk also.

are the rear discs a hard job to undertake on your own on the 172?

mine are getting low.. take it the bearing comes off easily with the old disc, and if you buy rear discs with bearings pressed into them, it goes on fairly easily too?

Rear disk are easy enough there a guide on here.

nope bearings should never be resuded it a pain to get them out if you do you'll end up breaking them and there worn anwya so just get new ones and new disks.
