rear lights on a 200

any one know how to take the rear lights out of my 200, do i take the boot sidewall out? are the clipped in?

some advise would be cool

They're the same as the 197 as far as I know. There are 3 torx head screws to remove, then the unit just lifts off. You can't get access through the boot.

don't need to take the lining out - just remove the three torx screws from the outside.

it's in the handbook.

cool, thinking of tinting them, my car is all black so want black rear lights, black diamonds, black bullets and black handles, handles are gona be a right ball ache

but black ones would look sooo much better and i think they can tell its a sport by the huge diffuser at the back

They werent tinted black. They were aftermarket lights with LED clusters.

I went to see my friend the other week who had a black punto in his workshop. The rear clusters were fully blacked out and i gave my opinion that they looked pretty cool. Turned out that he had used a pair of his girlfriends tights!!!!! Quite unusual and funny mod!!!!

IIRC, tinting rear lights with tights was first seen at the opening ceremony for stone henge.

Im not familiar with it so its the first id seen. He was 17 who owned the car and i wudnt see myself doing it but just shows you the cheap benefits of making your lights black, lol

im gona put the tights on, if i like it then i will get some tint spray, i will put a pic up and do a poll, if i dont like it then i can just take the tights off, better than tint spraying them then not liking it and being stuck with tinted rear lights

If you like the tinted look with the tights, go and get them done properly at a window tinting shop. Finish looks pretty good with the film and you don't have to go very dark.

Tinting the rear lights is illegal anyway as the 197 rear cluster contains the reflector that must remain red.

Bumping an old thread on behalf of a friend who has a 197. He's got some new silvervisions to fit but was concerned about the removal. Have heard a few stories of breaking the clips. Is it really a case of remove the 3 torx bolts and pull out?

Yep - really easy, they just pop out and then pop back in afterwards. From memory there aren't any clips to break on these, apart from when removing the bulb holder obviously.
