Rear Speakers

Ive got a 02 plate Clio Extreme (3 door).

What i want to know is.. can i upgrade the rear speakers? and what size are they?

yes you can, i put 17cm alpines in but found they were slighty to small to put the clio cover back on so im guessing maybe 13cm's

i have the alpine covers on mine and they look pretty dandy ill take some pics and post em later when i get home from college to show you

All the standard speakers are 13cm or 5.25"

im going to do my front and parcel shelf when i get paid does it make any difference tigger?

If you have the rear speakers upgraded then you won't need the parcel shelf done (guessing those awful 6x9s were in the pipeline)

I know some clios with over £3k worth of ICE installed and still have the standard rear speakers & parcel shelf

im gettin this HU n will run the front speakers off that, n have a MRP-T222 Amp and a MRV-T320 Amp, will run the sub off the bigger amp n the rear's off the smaller

i dont want 6x9s in the parcel shelf, bcos people will be able to easily see them

that is why im hoping to upgrade the rear speakers..

i wouldnt have upgraded the rear speakers and have 6x9s bcos there would be too much mid range sound and not enough bass

i will be buying everything the same time, bcos it will work out cheaper that way! Gonna be getting HU, front and rear speakers hopefully, two subs in the boot and an amp. Do you think i should upgrade the tweeters aswell, bcos i will be upgrading everything else but them at the mo. Also do i need a new facia for the HU, only asking bcos i havent found one on the internet yet!

Yeah ive always had that cocern with 6x9's that they are visible, you maswel strap a neon sign to your car saying come nick me. Where you going to be buying everything from?

Yes! Put your tweeters in the A-pillars
I can't describe in words how much it will improve the soundstage

Nothing in the rear at all?

If you went to a concert would you stand with your back to the stage?
Your want your soundstage up in the front-end, where anyone would be facing when sitting in the car.

A simple but decent set of rear co-axils will provide you with sufficient rear fill, so that the back isn't completely "empty".
Anything too powerful is going to disrupt the soundstage, creating more noise than music.

Yeah, I had those speakers in behind the standard renault plastic grills until December.
Just got them moulded & retrimed to put the Focal grills on & gave them a better appearance

i have that HU, pretty good. severe lack of buttons though, changing the station is a mare! looks nice! even if i did buy it, and 2 weeks later there was about £200 off!

13cm or 5.25" speakers. same thing. they will fit in and screw into the same places and the plastic cover will fit back on no problem. just might have to pull the back seats up to make it easier to get at the rear seats

dont bother wid 6x9s they look awfull unless you get a stealth shelf i put new tweeters in dash still hidden and some sony explod in the rear and front door and then just a 900watt sub and 1000wat amp sounds great and not to baisy all my speakers were wired to radio cus radio is 60w so fine for sound and power hope this helps :approve:

Don't bother upgrading the rear speakers, you will not, and shouldn't need to hear them, they ruin the soundstage (I actually completely removed them from my last system).

Don't bother with 6x9s, there's 1000's of reasons already discussed on here.

Don't get 2 subs, its not needed, money would be better spent on 1, higher quality sub.

All you need for a great SQ system is H/U, front components (dont go for 2/3 ways), single sub and amp (you don't even need a sub but its useful for some 'fill'). Make sure that you amp the components because H/U's are never quoted in RMS as already stated!

i wacked in the same coaxials as gammer in the back and they sound fine running off the headunit. Can't figure out how to install the front comps though which is really annoying. Got a SWS-1224 and mrv345 alpine sub and amp and the 9854R HU, sounds great but can't help thinking how much better it will be with the comps though??:quiet:
