Rear Springs hanging off!

  RB 182 cup,astra sri
Hey

Right i took the rear wheels off to paint my calipers and noticed that the springs were both hanging half on half off the mounting plates at the bottom!

What the F*ck!! How could this happen? Surely this is rather dangerous! I recently got the rear shocks changed and was thinking whoever changed them hasnt put the springs back on properly,

Anyone any ideas? im taking it back tomorrow and wanted to know for sure whats happened beforehand!

Cheers

garage fudged it, cant see how else its happened unless springs have broken? but for both to go at the same time...

I'd hazard a guess its just the fact the car is raised off the ground. This will be allowing the trailing arm to drop right down. Therefore the spring not being under pressure has extended fully but the rearmost part of the trailing arm is lower than the front making the spring contact at the front and not the rear. Hard to explain without a diagram though.

I know what he means /\ /\ and i'd imagine thats all it is. When you lower it down look again and i bet there fine then!

I know what Loony means too. When I fitted my springs I remember how loose the springs were located at the rear of the car.

yeah nothing else would make sense - they are so easy to fit - they are either on or off

Quite wrong sir!!! they were half on the mount half off! i had to take it in to get them put back on properly! the person that fitted my shocks a month ago mustnt have put them on properly! they were a ball hair from slipping off the mount altogether!
