How long do these last on average?

Ive just ordered my second set of fronts, but the rears still look meaty...

ages usually... unless you drive with the back end out a lot (even then they will always outlast the fronts). I never had to change a set of rears on my last car, had it for about 40000 (i think, seems a long time ago now...)

Shouldnt you be putting the new ones on the back and moving the older back ones onto the front?

Soon as I see the fronts differing from the back I swap them! Maybe thats why I did four tyres in a year (15000 miles)
