Reasonable quote?

  FF 182
Just had a quote off a local Renault specialist of £330 to fit the cambelt kit, aux kit, dephaser and water pump......i'll be supplying them. It was TW S Barker in the toon btw

Does that sound like a decent price to pay?

Not sure if this is right place, so apologies if it is.

JLister. I got quoted about £320 posted for Cam kit, aux kit, dephaser and water pump. Thats not inc the seal kit or crank bolt mind, but still a brilliant price.

£605 include cambelt, aux belt, dephaser and water pump?

Decided to get my dads colleague to do them. He's done a v6 clio before, which im presuming is a similar set up to a 1*2? Anyway, i trust him and they have the right tools. They've also just hired a new mechanic who apparently is very much clued up, and supposedly has done a few cambelts before for the sports.

£200 cash in hand for both belts, water pump and dephaser.

V6 Clio and 172 are nothing alike.

I'd be taking it to a proper specialist recommended on here. Plenty of people have let a mate do it to only come back with problems of a slow car, failed cambelts etc....

Ahh ok then. I hear ya, but being stuck up here in the land time forgot is a pita, no specialists around other than 1 or 2 places that a couple of people have recommended on here.

For a laugh i rang the local dealers . Got quoted £499 for cambelt kit, aux kit and dephaser. According to their website they are RS Specialists ^^. But that price is good in my eyes.

I'd be taking it to Paul @ RSTuning, I'd happily travel a few hours knowing the job would be done right.

Mate, i have given that alot of thought. Thing is, i honestly have no idea when/if the belts have been done already, and as each day passes im gettin more paranoid about driving it:rolleyes:.
