Using the 18-55 now? Where does it fall short then I can answer

oh and budget...I've got a Canon 24-105 f/4L IS USM for my all rounder. Very usable zoom, excellent quality. Not exactly great for macro stuff.
Got a hoya filter on it, mainly to protect that expensive glass.
