Received letter off police for my 3/4 front plate

i received a letter today off the police saying i had been reported for having an illegal registration mark on my vehicle. they have gave me a 7 day warning to take it off with no fine (which i think is fair). ive took it off today or else if i get caught again ill land myself with a £60 fine.
i was caught when i drove past a camera van last week so was kind of expecting it.
just thought id let people know as alot of people have these fitted :rasp:

I've been pulled twice since having mine on (for other reasons) and they've not mentioned the plate once. I'll keep it until I get caught.

I've been pulled twice now and been warned to change it, cant be bothered though to be honest. They should go and do some proper police work such as fighting crime and the drugs problems we currently have in the UK

I haven't had any issues with having mine on, and hopefully touch wood this will continue. I understand that the ANPR vans have to be able to read your reg but surely if you use the normal font even a 3/4 plate could be read. I would have thought anyway, I'm obviously no expert.

If ANPR can't read your number plate and your car gets nicked, that's another opportunity we have missed to recover your car and the persons who are driving it/stolen it.

If your driving round with something that is illegal and in plain sight for everyone to see then you deserve all you get tbh.

Its a number plate which noone other than the police will even notice, girls aren't going to see it and think "omg his numberplate is missing a few inches, his **** probably is too but that numberplate makes me wish he would smash my bearded clam to pieces".

Ouch is it illegal to have pressed plates?! Was looking at getting some done for mine...the advert says they afre road legal as they use the proper font and reflective background but i wont bother if i could get an £80 fine!!

I was pulled one night and the officer told me my plate wasn't going to kill anyone. He also laughed at my mate who didn't have a front plate. "how come you can manage to change the engine but not screw a front plate on?"

Which is ridiculous as it means they pay people to do the job the machinery cant do, which basically means it costs twice as much? Ridiculous! Time the police were able to spend more time fightig real crime and the courts handing out realistic sentences!
