Recently purchased 172 - Oil leak concerns

Hi Guys

I have searched the forum and can see that oil leaks are pretty common on these. I purchased a 172 just under 4 weeks ago from a local dealer. I was told it had just had a service and com belt change but on a trip from cardiff to rugby last weekend the SERVICE light came on and the dash was showing no oil. Checked the stick and it was almost totally empty. I put a litre in and drove back. a week of short journey's back and forth to work and I have the same issue.

Can't see any oil on my drive and doesn't seem much under the bonnet althoguh looks like a little could be on the cam belt (I'm pretty useless with mechanics so not going to be sorting this myself!) No burning smell and no smoke from exhaust.

Going to take it back to the dealer to look at but just wondering whether I'm going to be better off trying for money back or let them repair it? Is this going to be the start of a life of regular garage visits and repairs to pay for or just a temporary glitch in a lovely car?

Would be a shame to let it go as I love driving it. (Although I have seen another that's cheaper than I paid for this one!)

Cheers for your thoughts

I would give the garage a chance to repair the leak 1st. If they can't fix it then you should be entitled to a refund as with anything else you buy. I wouldn't put up with more than to two visits to the garage though.
