i wouldnt go for 6x9s
Upgrade the stock speakers and add a sub+good amp.
I think that will sound much better.

:rasp: im trying to sell the 6x9 the upgrad comp,s, i wouldnt reccomend 6x9s to any1, if you have a good sub (or couple) the 6x9s are s**t.

if ur running subs u need 6x9's in the rear and component midrange and tweeter up front. Standard speakers are not going to give u the extra mid and high frequency u need when running subs.

If u want good 6x9's buy pioneer mate or a set of vibe....

id say alpine all day long

my plan is not to have subs, and be able to have bassy enough 6x9s running off my 120wat amp...im a student...on a tight budget

What a load of crap. If you have 6x9s on a shelf when you are running subs. The subs with kill the 6x9s.

I don't have 6x9s i just run comps up front with 200rms a side for the mids and 50rms for the tweeters and they keep up with the 4200rms sub bass. So no you don't need 6x9s to keep up with the bass

Dunno how many times I will have said this recentl. To attain the BEST sound quality, you want a set of high quality components ni the front amped, NO REARS AT ALL, and a a seperately amped sub, thats it! Dont touch 6x9s coz they are w**k!

Duck, that right. Its all about the sound stage, not just filling the car with noise.

Recommending 6x9s is like recommending you to a ***** with clap.

Decent HU, quality amped comps up front and a single 12" sub with a matching amp will give you the best sound quality. There is no reason to consider them

At least some people people feel the same way about them. And get a bit of sound deadening in there as well. This will inprove the mid-bass and overall sound

Hierarchy for any sound system goes Source (so head unit), amplifiers, Speakers So basically spend say £200 on hu, £100 on amps and £50 on speakers. In the real world you wouldnt price it like that but you get my point.

Oh and as Chrome said bit of sound deadening behind the speakers is good, but dont over do it as you'll kill the sound

Don't over do the sound deadening???

You can't have too much sound deadening ;)

I have used loaf of brown bread on my doors with SS overkill over the top of the brown bread and a trunk kit of SS DP on my boot and rear quarters

you can over do sound deadening, not really sure how much is too much in a car enviroment tho as am borrowing from my knowledge hi-fi systems again

TBH you can't really over do SD well do a certain degree you can but thats when you have about 10layers and your windows can't go up. Anything that makes the door or what ever you are doing more sturdy is a good thing.

as I said that was me borrowing knowledge from tradational cabinet speakers for home audio systems, and obviously theres more room there for too much sound deadening material.

Best bet i've heard in the newer shape clio's is to remove the door and feed the cable through new holes. Sounds like a lot of effort, but the other cables dont have a direct feed as they have those funny connectors. Only need to drill a small hole as good quality spearker wire isnt that thick.

Mounting both amps in the boot?
