has anyone got any fake airpod pro 2s? ebay is absolutely rife with them. I really don't want to spend £450 buying the real ones for my kids for them to lose them
Why get fakes? There dozens of cheap buds about that’ll be better than fake airpods

@Clart I had a couple of pairs of fake airpods. Gave one set to the wife who really doesnt care about audio quality and she used them for well over 12 months before they refused to charge. Shes since got a proper legit pair as she has now proven she can be trusted not to lose them. Im not an iphone user but she said 90% of the features worked.

I think I paid £40 for them for reference

A few months back, prepping for might flight to Japan (14 hours), I had that 'Oh f**king s**t' moment. In the house move, id lost my charging cable for my large over ear headphones - Nuraphones. Theyre a special charging cable (of course) and with the flight the following day, I was wrecked.

A quick chat to a friend and I bit the bullet with a pair of Bose QuietComforts. Picked them up from John Lewis on the way to the airport, charged them in the car to full and hoped they were comfy.

I wore those things for most of the trip through the airport and for about 13 of the 14 hours on the plane. The noise cancellation is fantastic, the quality of sound is brilliant and, by far the best feature, are comfortable as all hell. My ears didnt hurt. Theyre light. Its almost like not wearing anything. Spectacular.

I now wear them every single day on the dog walk or whilst doing stuff around the house. Initially I was annoyed I had to fork out £250 due to 1 missing cable, but I regret nothing.

The newer features on the pro model don’t work afaik. Conversation mode iirc, because the features work in conjunction with the phone hardware.

What I’m saying is, if you know they’re fakes, fair enough. But if someone is trying to pass them off as genuine, that’ll be fairly obvious?

Of definitely. I don't think anyone paying £40 for airpods pro would expect them to be real

Whilst im definitely not an expert on this kind of thing, I really did struggle to tell the difference.

Again, im not an Apple user, so maybe im not the person to ask. However, it wasnt until my brother gave me his genuine ones to try that I actually noticed a difference. Even then, it wasnt immediately obvious.

Looking at some Sonys is the XM5 worth the extra £80 - £100 over the XM4’s?

Currently trying to decide a new pair of buds. I hate the look of the new Samsung ones.

The one plus buds pro 3 got a phenomenal review. And the wf xm5 buds are always a good shout.

One are stems. The other buds. Worried I'll hate the stems! 😂

Might mean less champagne this weekend, but the new technics are phenomenal. The sound quality is superb. And the fit is amazing, they sit differently to every other pair I’ve tried.

The Sonys are good, but a lot of people (myself included) have problems getting the fit right. And it’s not long before they get replaced by the xm6.

If noise cancelling isn’t high on your list of priorities, the nothing ears are brilliant. The noise cancelling isn’t bad, just not top tier. Ditto the Sony linkbuds fit.

I've found the Sony's fit better if you get the silicone tips for them, which you can ask for within the app.

They say that give up some anc moving from the foam tips?
You do. I tried multiple tips, Sony silicone ones, aftermarket, none would stay in place for any length of time. And reading various reviews, it’s not an uncommon issue.

They sound great, although not the best out there. And they do need to be eq’d, the out of the box sound is odd.

And Sony have consistently had issues with battery longevity. Of the ones I’ve tried in a similar price bracket (when released etc) I’d say the Bose ultra have better noise cancelling and a far superior fit, the sennheisers have superior sound and fit, and the technics are just better all round.

At the moment, the Technics are the best unless you go full baller and are willing to spend north of £300

I only use them walking to work or the pub and use the 2nd smallest tips and haven't noticed much difference. Might be a bit different on a plane or something though.
I also got them direct from Sony with a 2 year warranty so not worried about any potential battery issues.

Decisions! I like the idea of the sonys and I think they would be very good, even with a couple of small drawbacks. Maybe time to try the stems though! 😂

I’ve had the Sony XM4 and then XM5 and they were good however the tips really aren’t the best and I found they irritated my ears if using for any length of time. I unfortunately dropped one of the 5’s from the case while out running and by the time I I’d realised it’d been ran over. It was £125 for a new bud and you needed to send everything back for coding so couldn’t even purchase a bud from eBay etc.

Put me off so bought a pair of the Technics AZ80 and as per Forceindia they are amazing, definitely ahead of the Sony on quality and I find them far more comfortable too. They’d definitely be my choice out of the 2.

Tbf if I hadn't got the XM5's for £135 then I'd probably gone with the Technics going by the reviews. But for the price plus 2 year warranty it was a no brainer...

Thanks Warren, think I've ruled out the sonys, age on battery and the new ones can't be far away, done plenty of research and you can see niggles cropping way more than az80/100.

The Samsung buds ido not fancy, I've had 3 pairs and in fairness, never one bit of hassle with them. I still wear my buds + when running, the battery life is still mental because of no anc. As always the passive is good. I don't like the look of the 3 pro or the shape. Still gutted they even went away from the wing tip!

Boxe ultras are too big, the none ultras look good. The technics are in the led currently. Will research the difference with the 80s and 100s.

I’d been looking at az80 for ages, just as I was about to commit the az100 came out. They’re the best sounding buds I’ve experienced.

But it’s the fit that’s really impressive.

100's are smaller, and have a new driver tech which is meant to improve sound etc. But a chunk pricier!

For me, fits really important. The technics fit me perfectly, but obviously everyone has different ears! I'd get them via amazon whichever way you go, the returns are so easy if they don't fit etc .

They have lots of ear tips right enough. Sadly no fit test on the app?

They sound like the ones for me. Researched them most of the morning. Price isn't that bad considering they are brand new.

No fit test. App is good, controls are totally customisable. It’s got Dolby Spatial Audio, which I don’t use but some folk enjoy.

Not a massive spatial audio guy! But I like that it can convert and force it. Quite cool.

Impressed so far with what I've read. Didn't realise I was looking for new buds just as these were released.

Ordered the AZ100s. 15% student discount and sold old earbuds and an old tablet on eBay. Winning! Thanks gents for the recommendations and putting the technics on my radar.
