Its because of the profile, it's a rare size tyre hence harder to get hold of and more expensive. Try 215/40/17 a lot more common and cheaper starting around £50.
I am in Oz, we have 195/50 R15 here as standard on the sport which has a circumference of approx 1810mm
(215/35 R17 C=1830 so only about 1% out)
If I go for a 215/40 R17 C= 1879 or about 5% bigger.
Won't this mess with the speedo and also slow down the accelaration? i.e. slower off the line but higher top speed (no good here speed limit is 110 Km/h)
If I go for a 205/40 R17 C=1872 or about 3.4%.
Also concerned about the tyre rubbing or fowling the wheel arches if I go bigger as the car has Eibach lowering springs.
mate addin 5mm onto your tire aint gonna make any diff to your speedo and the answer to you car being lower is no it wont have any problems as for offset im not sure but id guess that 40 shouldnt be a problem
