Recommendations for new speakers?

  GW RS200
It's time I got around to changing my standard speakers, to something more crisp and noticeably different. I haven't had the chance to go out looking yet, and thought i'd ask what's recommended and what's not.

I haven't got around to changing my HU either yet, even though I pefer the OEM look rather than spending mega £ for a half decent looking one, but all i'm really after is new component speakers, and x2 back speakers (my Clio didn't have backs factory fitted so will need wiring aswell)..

Price isn't a matter for the moment just after suggestions.. All help would be appreciated. :)

If you haven't changed your HU, there's barely any point. The amp in the HU is what drives the speaker - changing the speaker isn't going to achieve much.

Change the HU (decent enough alpine/pioneer etc), stick a sub in the boot, cut the low freq's to the door speakers and you're done.

Also I can't personally see any point what so ever putting speakers in the rear. It's not surround sound, it's just mid-range noise coming in from the back of your knees. Why bother ?

Thanks for the advice, was just wondering about speakers in the back as thought it'd give more noise oaround the car rather than just from the front? Would you not even stick 6x9's in the parcel shelf?

for a cheap simple solution you can get some pioneer speakers that are a direct fit plug and play
Was looking at them a minute ago, are they decent quality sound for what they are?

6x9's ?

1) Treble should be in front of you .. not behind your ears.
2) It's not 1998 any more.
3) They scream 'break in and steal me' unless you hide them, then you can't use your boot without a fcukload of hassle.
4) How are you going to get sound to the speakers without any wires ? Surely you'll need a new HU first ?!

Pioneer speakers:

Again, you've still got the stock amplifier (and not a very good one) powering them.

as above really with the stock HU there alright nothing special.

best to get a decent HU some decent components for front and a sub for rear as whats already been said.

when i got my pioneer H/U fitted the guy fitting it told me it's possible that renault used the same wiring looms, ie, the wires for the rear speakers are actually there. you might have to search for them a little, but they are definitely somewhere because they are wired into the plug that goes to the HU! (if you really do want rear speakers... good for passengers i guess)

No dont intend to ethier to old to have my ears blasted away these days.

ive always used components rather than using stock speakers because in past experience the paper cone is already in bits by the time ive come to change speakers lol.

I have a Sony headunit CDX-GT24 with front aux for iPod etc then have Alpine SXE-1325S speakers all round. Works well, definitely better than standard.
