Just fitted a set to the Cup last night, deffinate improvement on the std's.
Recommened to me by one of the guys at me local GSF £29 + Vat.
I couldn't believe how easy to fit pads to the clio!!

which mintex?

Not to sure to be honest, they came in a very well presented box, think it just said 'performance pads' for what it's worth. Will dig the box out when i get home.

edit, just checked! you're not! shame!

I would but not keeping the car too long so its extra money plus i found it a nightmaree bleeding car brakes compared to a motorbike. I know how bigger difference braided lines make tho , cuz that was always first buy for my motorbikes. With a set of decent pads!

not that hard, but if you haven't done it before you must be careful

its a messy job

2 hours max if you're a novice

Mintex Extreme - MDB2561X

I've just bought a set of these (not fitted yet) glad they seem to do the trick. :) I know Mintex are good but had heard nothing on these pads before I bought them. Can't wait to fit them with my 16v calipers and Brembo discs. :D

  182... again!
^^me too...got them for £35 from Demon Tweeks! Apparently Mintex are really promoting hard, hence the price at the moment! I gather they are comparable with EBC greens or Ferodo DS2000's so shall fit them tomorrow and see how it goes...

  182... again!
...goes good! Well infact...stops well!! Very impressed, 400 miles on the road before Brands trackday. Didn't fade at all and plenty of feel/bite I thought.

  182... again!
Need to check more acccurately but looks like they are wearing quickly! About 1000 miles + trackday and looks like a third down already. I've no experience of non O/E pads though so can't compare with others for wear! No doubt you can't have it all ways though...

Bit more info on the Mintex pads;
K-tec fitted some to the clio turbo for the Tuner GP, after 10 laps there wasn't much left on them. Apparently there was no brake fade to speak of and would recommended them as a fast road pad but not for the track, if your looking for a pad that lasts.

Is £33 (inc vat/dleivery) for a set of the Mintex Extreme for front of a 172 a good price then?

not the best IMO, i'm comparing them to DS2500's here

they're about the same as EBC greens, i've just done a 130mile test session in the V6, they did well, but i'll stick to the DS2500's for hard driving. The mintex stop well, but sqeual a bit and don't like serious abuse, i didn't fade them, but to be fair i was driving on the road

^^^^ You say they are about the same as the ebc greenstuff pads ? So your saying the ebc's aren't that good then ??

  Lionel Richie
remember i'm use to driving on PF97/pagid blue/DS2500 all day, everyday

EBC greens i class as an uprated road pad, better than stock, but no where near a track pad, i put the mintex extreme in the same class

nothing wrong with the EBC green or the mintex, but if you do track days, you'll need at least DS2500

has anyone got a number to get the mintex pads????

really interested

ali u abused them yet if so what they like????

  Renault Clio 182 Trophy
Fred, For sprints and hillclimbs initial bite from cold is often more important than fade resistance - any particular recommendations? Unfortunately no real opportunity to get them warm before the start either.

forgive me when i say i know bugger all about hillclimbs, do you have to do BIG stops???

  Renault Clio 182 Trophy
Fred, Probably not massive by track standards in terms of outright speed, but down from flat in third to low speed 1st/2nd gear corners - probably three of four times per run.

We have just started stocking Mintex Extreme, Basically they are a new design pad that has only just been released in the past month. We have become a main dealer for all the Extreme range, and in the near future they will be relasing a range of uprated discs.

I will be honest I have yet to try a set, but will be getting some very soon. I have used Greenstuff on my previous cars and tbh wasnt that impressed, plus the nasty green colour that can be seen behind the alloys puts me off a little especialy as they will be going onto the Trophy.

drop me a PM if you want me to find prices out for you.

Well thought I'd add my experience with the pads on my RT (16v brake conversion)... basically.... I DO NOT LIKE THEM. Now before I start saying the pads are rubbish, they are not rubbish, I don't like them on my setup that's all.

I have Brembo Discs and I think the compounds must not work well with each other, especially because the Mintex Pads are a metal compound. I get alot, and I mean alot of brake dust from these. However this increase may be worse due to grooved discs taking more surface off the pads under braking.

Secondly, the most important point, they sqeual really really badly under gradual braking. Normal to aggressive braking is ok, but trying to come to a gradual stop or braking whilst going down hill and the noise is terrible.

I am going to try out Brembo's own pads (they do make there own don't they?) and see if that helps matters. My brother had this trouble with his M1144 pads and Red Dot discs.

The braking is good but I can't put up with the noise and amount of dust. Like I say, it may be the type of discs not helping, but we'll see. :(

  Polo + Micra
lol i thinki must of given my mintex extreme too much abuse the other night cos they are proper sh*t

nearly killed me as they just stoped working when they got hot:(

will have to ditch them and go back to the pagid ones i got before
